Sunday 21st July, 10am – 4:30pm (we can arrive earlier to set up) BWA at the Cowper and Newton Museum, Olney, Bucks. There is an entrance fee of £5 per carver. This will entitle you to an ‘Annual Pass’ to the Cowper and Newton Museum, including membership as a ‘Friend of the Museum’. A great deal! There’s a market square car park just outside the entrance to the museum (the market won’t be on that day) A message from Paula Noble: Please join me to show off our talents and to inspire new carvers. Would any of you be available to bring along hand-held carving projects or work-in-progress on your carving benches? It would be wonderful if this event could spark off a North Bucks BWA Region to be set up. I would be happy to do the soap carving with visitors. Such a relaxing place to spend the day! (visit www.cowperandnewtonmuseum.org.uk). The Cowper and Newton museum celebrates two great men who lived in Olney: the leading 18th Century poet & letter writer William Cowper and his friend, John Newton who wrote the hymn “Amazing Grace”. The museum is housed in the building that 18th Century poet William Cowper lived and worked in. It has beautiful, well tended gardens and a lovely 18th Century summerhouse. You will be able to set up your woodcarving bench in this historic garden for visitors to walk amongst us. William Cowper owned 3 hares which you can read all about in the museum. I wonder if you’ve ever tried to carve a hare?!! I hope you can join me – all publicity is good publicity and this is a lovely place for us to catch up with each other. Please confirm your availability ASAP so I can plan the day (and bake you some cakes!).Looking forward to hearing from you... please spread the word to your members! All very exciting!
